The 3rd International Seminar on Human Rights and Museology kicked off in Nanjing, East China’s Jiangsu province, on Tuesday. Nearly 100 experts and scholars from 18 countries attended the seminar. 2017 also marks the 80th Anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre.

The theme of this seminar is “History, Peace, Human Rights.” Wang Yanwen, a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Standing Committee and chief of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Publicity Department, said at the seminar that the Japanese invaders carried out a tragic massacre in Nanjing 80 years ago, and the massacre is the most serious violation of human rights. Today, Nanjing is building an international peace city that shows the world the determination of the Chinese people to love peace and adhere to the path of peaceful development.

Attendees said that various anti-Fascist war museums and memorial museums make an important contribution to safeguarding world peace and ensuring basic human rights by preserving and documenting the historical facts and conducting education on peace and human rights.
