This is where Nanjing’s young ladies of leisure spend their time. The discerning little gaggle have good reason too, for Maan Coffee is a product of the people who brought us the Korean restaurant chain Ai Jiang Shan. Choosing Nanjing as their third Chinese city in which to set up shop, Maan Coffee serves up waffles, salads, a variety of all day breakfast options and a fascinating burger comprising twin burgers of thinly sliced beef marinated in a sweet Korean barbecue sauce, presented with tomato, lettuce and processed cheddar in something approximating a ciabatta roll. It all goes down well amid decor in which cement and glass walls are juxtaposed with antique armchairs and lanterns dangling from tree branches. iMacs are on hand for those who travel light but still wish to surf. Be wary of busy periods; you may well end up queuing out the door.
