The reason for the nightly assault on Shanghai Lu, wherein a swarm of workers and machines attack the intersection at Guangzhou Lu, has been discovered. It is actually the precursor to building the Metro Line 5 station. The series of trenches and holes is to relocate pipes and cables before the main construction takes place. So it is likely that the disruption will continue for some time to come. Sad to note that once more, authorities have removed trees and other greenery in the process. However, our city is still greener than most in China.
