BSN are very proud to announce that Sanjana Kumar in Year 6 has won the prestigious COBIS Poetry Competition.

The school was delighted, recently, to learn from COBIS that one of their talented young writers, Sanjana in Year 6, had been selected as the sole Category A winner in this year’s COBIS Student Poetry Awards. COBIS – the Council of British International Schools – is committed to advancing the interests of British schools and British education overseas.

The British School of Nanjing has been a member of COBIS since the school was founded and is one of nearly 300 bodies represented by the organisation. As such, Sanjana’s entry was one of many hundreds and BSN is extremely proud that the judges recognised her talent with the award. Sanjana receives a certificate in recognition of this and £75 (approximately 750 rmb) worth of Oxford University Press resources. Many congratulations to Sanjana! All the winners and runners up are listed on the COBIS website here.

An Unfinished Dream

I sit in the grass,
On a midsummer’s day,
Separating my thoughts from my dreams,
And my dreams from my thoughts.

I lie there,
Thinking all the questions of the world,
And why they have not been answered.

I think of my own life,
The difference between reality and fiction,
And what waits for me next.

I admire the sky,
The flawless clouds,
The crescent moon shining high above.

I question if life is a written book,
A painted picture,
An ancient scroll?

Or perhaps an unfinished day’s dream…
