Chinese acting royalty and illustrious Fan Bingbing has seen her name tainted of late as her company continues to be embroiled in a tax evasion investigation.

As reported by Global Times, Fan’s name has recently been removed from a soon-to-be released Mel Gibson and Bruce Willis film, as the investigation carries on.

Fan’s studio was investigated by the Jiangsu Province’s Wuxi Tax Bureau in June, 2018, after “TV host Cui Yongyuan exposed blacked-out contracts”.

Now, after weeks of silence on social media and zero acting appearances in months, news has surfaced the X-Men actress has been handed a 3 year acting ban.

According to reports online, Fan will not be allowed to perform anywhere for the next 3 years as a result of alleged tax evasion. Fan’s management have yet to comment on the matter.

It is alleged that Fan has been taking that known in China as “Yin-Yang Contracts”; one contract which is displayed to tax authorities and another that is kept under the rug.

As a result of the scandal, it has also been reported that as of last week, the government has set in place a new limit of how much actors should get paid, writes The Muse.

“Under said agreement, actors can make at most 1 million [RMB] per episode and 50 million [RMB] per season… In addition no more than 40 percent of a movies budget should go towards paying the cast.”

No substantial evidence of figures have yet been released, showing exactly how much tax has been evaded, or if even Fan has indeed been banned from acting.
