That which started as an accidental shooting with far-from-life-threatening injuries is turning in to a riddle wrapped inside an enigma, as the bodies of two suspects have turned up in mysterious circumstances in Wuxi of our very own Jiangsu Province.

This Wednesday, 10 May, saw the Public Security Bureau of Jiangyin City in Wuxi release their statement confirming the discovery of two dead males, together with homemade firearms.

The find was made earlier that day at around 16:00 in bushes at the base of a cliff in Jiangyin City’s Hua Shan, not far from the original crime scene.

Through investigation and autopsy, as well as DNA comparisons, it was then confirmed that the two were indeed the suspects identified as having carried out the shooting.

Of the two, he surnamed Chen, was 56, while his coconspirator, surnamed Geng, was 43.

They had been on the run for 5 days after shots rang out at about 05:00 on 4 May, along Piling Dong Lu in Jiangyin.

The two fled the scene and took off into the nearby mountains. Video footage released by The Paper showed police drones in the sky over a mountain during their search for the fugitives.

Police also cordoned off the surrounding area and brought traffic to a stop on nearby highways, as they went vehicle to vehicle in search of the two wanted men.

Hong Kong’s Dimsum Daily is reporting that the shooting occurred at a private club, during a disagreement over a card game. Two people were shot, one of whom being a civilian. Neither were seriously injured.

Police have yet to state whether there was foul play involved in the mens’ deaths, or whether they simply slipped from the cliff in darkness while trying to evade the authorities.

The mystery case remains under further investigation.
