This day, 26 August, in 1960, the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan signed the Sino-Afghanistan Treaty of Friendship and Non-Aggression in Kabul. The Treaty states that the two sides recognise and respect each other’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and guarantees mutual non-aggression; maintaining and developing peaceful and friendly relations, while resolving disputes between the two sides through peaceful consultation.
