The Mandarin Garden-Xiyuan used to be simply the foreign student dormitory for Nanjing University. However, recently the entire building under went a major renovation, changing everything from the lobby to the restaurant to the rooms. Today, the building still houses many foreign students, but also serves as a respectable hotel. Room prices range from 148 RMB/night for an economy room (whatever that is) to 488 RMB/night for a suite. Standard rooms are 278 RMB/night.
The Mandarin Garden-Xiyuan may not be the most high profile hotel in Nanjing, but for those looking to stay in a relatively central location (especially close to universities) it is quite convenient.
