It’s Lifecycle Time

Pity the poor domestic air travellers. To start, security checking now rivals international travel. Everything except taking your shoes off. You arrive at the gate to find that the plane is running late. And there is no idea of how late it will be. Hurry up and wait. Eventually the plane arrives, and if you’re lucky, it departs only a couple of hours late. Your fellow passengers routinely ignore requests to turn off portable devices, until cabin staff address them personally. En route there is some rough air and you are told to secure your seatbelt. Even the cabin crew are in seats again. So some idiot undoes his seatbelt and stands up to open the overhead locker. If you survive the journey, the plane touches down at your destination. While the plane is still slowing, the clicks start – passengers undoing their seatbelts. After you disembark, some pleasure is grasped from reading the English version of signs, such as “Do not launch your handcart” at the top of the escalator.
