It’s not clear what is happening, but probably the beginning of the new Metro station. At the corner of Shanghai Lu and Guangzhou Lu, every evening the workers arrive. From about 8pm, there is much digging and banging. Then it is all filled in or covered up. The holes are narrow. It’s a bit tough if you are driving, as there is no indication about where cars should go.

Is this concern about some domestic violence? Is it suggesting an alternative way of child raising? Perhaps the clue is the squashed bodies of mosquitoes on the wall. Early summer brings on the sport of “mozzie slapping”, and now they are forbidding this pastime.
