Zhu Qijie, a resident of Yangzhou city, concluded a “Purchase and Sale Contract of Electricity” with Yangzhou power supply department on Jun 4.

After a measuring meter was installed at his home, Zhu can upload the electricity generated from his rooftop to the state grid and charge from the State Grid from now on, which marks the first family rooftop power generation project in Yangzhou was officially connected to public grid and also the first case of uploading electricity generated from private house to the state grid in Jiangsu.

The photovoltaic power generating equipment in Zhu’s home can be divided into two parts. The major part is located on the rooftop of the second storey, composed of 22 pieces of solar photovoltaic panels, each of which is in the form of 1m×2m with a surface area of some 45 square meters. The other part, a solar photovoltaic panel, is set on the rooftop of wing-rooms. Electricity generated by these photovoltaic panels is transmitted to the state grid through a device called inverter.

The daily power generation is about 30 kWh in a fine day, roughly equivalent to about 900 kWh in a month and 9,000 kWh in a year taking the factors of weather and temperature into account, according to the measuring data recently collected by Zhu. The purchase price for electricity of the State Grid is 0.46 yuan/kWh, so Zhu can get an income of 0.46×9,000=4,140 yuan (US$ 675.6) a year by selling electricity to the State Grid.
