The pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles drivers must pay a fine of 20 yuan if they cross road illegally, and their enterprises will be even notified of their illegal acts.

A total of 81 pedestrians have been caught on Apr 8 alone in Nanjing, 27 among them was notified to their enterprises of their illegal acts. Some of the jay-walkers took “saving time” as their excuses while some said jay-walking can spare them from the trouble of many walking.

An old even lady retorted reporter, saying “To walk 100 more meters to cross the road, that’s easy for you to say, how many ‘100 meters’ we have in the life?”

In front of the gate of the Nanjing University of Technology, more than 30 jay-walkers were punished within 30 minutes. Some of them immediately turned away when they saw the traffic cops. However, most of them accepted the traffic education and punishment since knowing they were in the wrong. The traffic cops gave them the hand tore invoice on the spot.
