Three provinces and two cities including Jiangsu began to implement the departure tax refund scheme since April 1.
The pilot city in Jiangsu for this scheme is Nanjing. So far, there are 11 shops for departure tax refund. Nanjing Lukou International Airport is the port for departure tax refund and the agency is Bank of Nanjing.
Foreign tourists can process departure tax refund at two kinds of venues: the customs declaration counters andrelated agencies.
The departure tax refund scheme applies to foreign tourists and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots who visited the Chinese mainland for no more than 183 days. Other conditions apply: the minimum purchase for a tax refund of the visitor at the same shop on the same day is 500 yuan ($77.3); the item is not opened or used; the departure date should be less than 90 days from the date of purchase; the item is carried by the touristorbeing consigned abroad.
