The awarding ceremony of Radio Drama in School was held in Nanjing on Sept 29. Since the radio drama was promoted among primary and middle schools in Nanjing, many students no longer take popular internet slangs as their catchphrase after learning radio dramas in standard Mandarin with clear articulation.
“What we did in the beginning was just reading the lines, which was stiff and awkward. Later on, with the guidance of our teachers, we gradually stepped into the inner world of the characters in the play and began to speak the words from our heart instead of just uttering the lines,” said Liu Ruimin, the main actor of the Special Award winning drama. Liu is a post-90s who usually speaks internet slangs with his classmates and it is the first time he has learned the charm of standard language by means of radio plays.
According to our reporter, advocating radio plays in primary and middle schools in Nanjing since this February is an initiative taken by the Nanjing government with a view to deepening our language and words studies and improving the quality education in primary and middle schools which was received well by teachers and students of the pilot schools.
