This day, 3 April, in 1949, the First Congress of Chinese Women held in Beijing officially announced the establishment of the All-China Democratic Women’s Federation, with He Xiangning elected as Honorary Chairperson, Cai Chang as Chairperson, and Deng Yingchao, Li Dequan and Xu Guangping as Vice Presidents. The Federation was renamed the All-China Women’s Federation in 1957.
