Nanjing University Creates Super Strong Wood; Strong Enough for Apartment Blocks

The technique developed by a team of scientists at Nanda removes the “lumen”, tubes that limit the strength of wood, from within its cellulose structure. The technique is said to involved boiling the wood in a mixture of caustic soda and sodium sulphite.
