Nanjing’s first large-scale cable tunnel has entered the final stage of wire installation and will be put into use later this month, according to State Grid Nanjing Power Supply Company (NPSC) on Sept 24.
“At one end of the tunnel stands Jiulong transformer substation, and at the other end lies Nanjing South Railway Station transformer substation, both of which are 220 kV substations,” said Zhang Lei, an engineer of the infrastructure department of NPSC.
The construction of the tunnel lasts from Feb 5 of last year to this June with a total length of 7.2 km, added Zhang.
“Cable lines will be laid for twice in the future when tearing up road surface is no longer needed and lines can be put into the tunnel directly,” Zhang Lei told reporters.
