The “2013 International Conference on Biomass Energy and Chemicals” (2013 ICBEC), hosted by Nanjing Forestry University (NFU), was held on Oct 15 in Nanjing. Over 20 overseas scholars in such fields as energy, biology, materials and chemicals from the United States, Canada, Australia, Denmark, Singapore and Sweden as well as domestic researchers from over 20 universities and research institutions, participated in this conference. On the conference, The attendees discussed on such topics as pretreatment of raw biomass, biofuel, thermochemical conversation rate and gasification, biomass chemicals and biomass materials.
At the conference, Professor Jack N. Saddler from University of British Columbia, Canada, presented a keynote speech themed “The evolution of forest product industry and the push it gives to bio-refinery”, and Professor Yu Shiyuan, former president of NFU, also presented a keynote speech by the name of “Cellulase production for biotransformation of lignocellulose”. In addition, Professor Sun Runcang of Beijing Forestry University and Professor William B. Whitman of the University of Georgia also delivered keynote speeches.
This conference will last for three days in the forms of keynote speech, academic speech and group discussion.
