From 16 thru 31 August, cooperation between the Traffic Management Office of the Nanjing Public Security Bureau, the Bank of Nanjing and Mobike, is bringing about an exciting and innovative new initiative in order to promote further green travel.

The Bank of Nanjing is issuing over ¥1million worth of riding coupons to lucky winners over the two weeks. As a first time cooperation between the Bank of Nanjing and Mobike, the incentive is one of practicality and positivity.

As one of this year’s hot topics, the buzz words “shared bicycles” are in the news and discussions daily. At present the total number of such bikes on Nanjing’s streets is close to a staggering 450 thousand, double that at the start of the year.

Officials at a press conference said, “Nanjing bicycle travel plan, through the issuance of millions of riding concessions, [aims to lift] public safety standards, advocates low-carbon travel and makes the city more beautiful”, reported the Jiangsu Business Daily.

How do you get your hands on some coupons? One way is to add the Bank of Nanjing’s official WeChat page; those who have their bank cards linked to WeChat payment can follow the official page during the promotional period and click on the activity page entitled “Green Travel Plan in Nanjing”; they will then have a chance to win one of the riding coupons, valued at an accumulative ¥0.9 million.

Another way is to become a new Mobike user. The user must follow an official WeChat account linked to Mobike and click on the activity page. Here, users will be in the running to win coupons worth an accumulative ¥0.1 million.

Jiang Lei, Editor in Chief of the Jiangsu Business Daily, said of the press conference, “It would be most appropriate to ride… now that [summer] has passed, Autumn is getting stronger [and] it is a good time to ride around Nanjing. I wish the Nanjing green travel plan a complete success!”

In June of this year, Californian governor Jerry Brown visited friendship state Jiangsu on his China tour, one that ran with the theme of climate change collaboration. In Nanjing, he attended events dedicated to clean technology and environmental protection. Brown is also among those opposed to U.S. President Donald Trump’s withdrawing of the US from the Paris Agreement, which he vowed to resist and to fight.

With Jiangsu and Nanjing’s combined efforts at better relationships between governing powers abroad such as California, their own governments, corporations and the people, we are on a fast track to becoming real leaders in renewable energy; progressive and green.
