Anyone who lives in Nanjing undoubtedly takes cabs, and anyone who has lived in Nanjing for more than two years has seen the price of cabs slowly but steadily rise. The first step is always a 1 RMB increase in order to cover gas costs, the last of which was implemented in 2009. As of now, a cab costs at least 9 RMB, plus 1 RMB needed for the extra fee. However, a subsidy will be introduced on 7 June to assist the cab business, but that pesky extra fee will not go away.
