Restaurants have received a much-needed shot in the arm in the form of a sit-down meal by one of Nanjing’s top leaders, as foreigners in the city are now able to obtain the Personal Health Declaration Card so that they can do the same.
Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee, Zhang Jinghua, has followed Xi Jinping’s lead in Wuhan, in efforts to convince the populace that life is getting back to normal after the outbreak of Covid-19.
The publicity stunt was also intended to bring the public’s attention to a first batch of 333 restaurants in Nanjing that are reopening.
Meanwhile, the accompanying news that the Personal Health Declaration Card is now available will go quite some way to winning over Nanjing’s foreign community.

The Personal Health Declaration Card (个人健康状况申报卡) is intended for anyone who cannot obtain its electronic counterpart via apps such as Return to Nanjing.
Such people include children who do not have ID cards, the elderly who may not have a smart phone, and foreign passport holders, including those from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao.
Where Do I Get the Nanjing Personal Health Declaration Card?
Announced just this morning on BendiBao.com, the Personal Health Declaration Card can be obtained from the management of residential communities, railway and bus stations; and ports and airports. It is valid for 14 days after issue.

The card, which was announced as available in Suzhou last week, is now being introduced in Nanjing. The introduction comes relatively late, as Nanjing prides itself on often being the first to implement progressive measures. The province of Shandong announced their equivalent last week.
It is also hoped an electronic version of the card shall become available soon. At present, a beta version with limited validity can be downloaded via the China Mobile Jiangsu app. It may be used to enter some offices and other buildings, but not at this time, restaurants.
