That the USA has pulled out of the Paris Accord only serves to highlight more the tremendous steps made by China in the field of environmental protection in recent years.

One quick look around the International Summit of New Environmental Protection Technology held at Nanjing International Expo and Conference Centre on 5 and 6 June was enough to realise China will be the only player in the field who stands to make a real difference.

3D models of large scale environmental protection projects were the new fashion at this year’s show; everything from residential real estate, ports and industrial complexes, to biological and industrial waste treatment facilities.

While the bulk of the exhibitors at this year’s expo were from all over Jiangsu, there were also companies present from Shanghai and as far away as Japan. Also on site was the mighty Huawei, showing off its Internet of Things data processing technology.

The exhibition industry is a significant contributor to the local economy, as Nanjing is a top host for international expositions nationwide, with 16 ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) recognised international conferences held in 2015.
