Nanjing once again takes its place on the international stage with the opening of China’s first dedicated Oakley store, as 29 November saw the opening of such in Xinjiekou’s Deji Plaza.

In Nanjing to officially open the store were President of Retail Greater China, Alessandro Donadelli, and General Manager Greater China LensCrafters, Ray-Ban and Oakley, Carl James.

“Deji is one of the most important malls in China…and we are very proud to be able to open a store here”, said Donadelli, speaking with The Nanjinger.

“In Shanghai we have recently opened a one-of-a-kind store, which is half Oakley and half Ray-Ban. This (Nanjing) store is the first Oakley only store in China and it isn’t only glasses focused”.

Indeed, the new outlet offers more than just sunglasses; the brand’s active wear for outdoor sports, such as skiing, cycling and running are all avaialble in this, the new Oakley Concept Store.

Situated on the 5th floor of Deji’s 1st Phase, Oakley is nestled beside other sporting giants Nike, Puma and Evisu, and across from Adidas; prime location for a prime brand.

“Of course more awareness is needed more for Oakley than Ray-Ban, which has a stronger basis here in China”, added James.

As a known and well trusted brand in the West, and with Nanjing’s growing interest in the outdoors and fashion, there should be no reason why Oakley should not enjoy equal success.

Live streaming fashion bloggers rubbed shoulders with models and event promoters as the curioso of Nanjing wandered on into the store for a snoop around.

Owned by Luxottica Oakley work not only with Ray-Ban in China but with LensCrafters, another well trusted American retailer of prescription eyewear.

With the opening of Oakley in Deji, Nanjing has once again been chosen by one of the best. By buying up its space on the rapidly growing monopoly board of Nanjing, Oakley is set of success.
