Whenever Hopeful Hearts throws open the doors to one of its Garage Sales, nothing less than a stampede of people flood the sales area in the hope of snapping up a bargain or two. It is a testament to the success of the Nanjing-based charity that has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2003.

As such it is with heartfelt thanks to all who participated in the latest round of this highly successful event, held from 9th to 11th October, that Hopeful Hearts announces ¥20,035 was raised to help provide life-saving heart surgery for local children.

The injection of funds could not come at a better time; this week alone has seen two new cases admitted in the form of a 10-day old baby and a 6-year old boy.

Hopeful Hearts continues to raise funds for children in need throughout the entire year. For the month of November, the charity will sell teddy bears to be given as gifts to the 93 children in Nanjing hospitals with heart conditions. For ¥50, donors can send a teddy bear to a child along with a personal message; in turn, they will receive a thank-you card and a teddy bear charm.

To make a difference to the plights of these children through a donation, email hopefulheartsnanjing@sfly.com.

Hopeful Hearts is a charity jointly run by local and expat women that operates in China under the umbrella of the Amity Foundation, one of the earliest Chinese NGOs, established in 1985.
