In news that is hardly earth shattering, a new report has found that ‘The tobacco industry has become the largest ‘health-hazard’ industry’. The recently released report, titled Tobacco Control and the Future of China, was sponsored by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and also states that within the next 20 years the number of smoking related deaths could triple to over 3.5 million people. The most recently available figure of smoking related deaths is from 2005 when 1.2 million people died. No breakdown was available of what age groups constituted this number.
