According to a popular online post on March 29, DesignCurial, an architectural design website, ranked more than 1,000 public toilets around the world and came up with a list of the most beautiful ones in the world. A public toilet in Nanjing’s Mount Niushou Cultural Tourism Zone is on the list.

The public toilet on Mount Niushou is of oriental Zen style. Titled “Lookout”, it is located behind a small hill where you can have a bird’s-eye view of Foding Temple, head of Mount Niushou, Foding Tower and Foding Hall.

Li Zhu, head of ATA studio of the Architectural Design & Research Institute of Southeast University, introduced that there are eight public toilets of this kind, each with special characteristics. With the appearance designed to merge with natural scenery, the toilets are built with environment-friendly and fair-priced materials and equipped with pretty and fair-priced internal facilities.

It’s interesting that when the scenic zone was in trial operation and the toilet sign wasn’t hung up yet, many tourists mistook it as an art gallery or tea room and didn’t dare go in.
