Fan Ziqiao and Fan Dushi from Zhenjiang celebrated a very special birthday this year; their 100th birthdays fell together on the fourth day of the Chinese lunar year. Their children specifically prepared a feast of 100 tables of dishes to celebrate their birthdays, attracting nearly 1,000 friends and relatives.
The couple has been married for 80 years, and the whole family contains nearly 270 members. A marriage that lasts for 50 years is called a golden marriage, while a marriage that lasts for 80 years is the longest “oak marriage”.
“Are all my kids here?” 100-year-old Fan Ziqiao sat in front of the door, chatting with their children. Despite his advanced age, Fan Ziqiao can name each of his children correctly. “We decided to spread the birthday feast in our hometown to celebrate their 100th birthdays,” said Fan Jin.
The old couple had a set of special “wedding photos” taken on Feb 14, 2015, the Valentine’s Day, to celebrate this special birthday.
