It might be time again to spread the word about pyramid and ponzi schemes, now that the Chinese Government is running a campaign to raise awareness. Take the time to explain to friends that having money in an “investment” or “wealth club” that promises a huge payoff in the future (pyramid scheme) if you enroll more people is illegal. “Investments” that promise huge returns on a regular basis (for example 10% per month) is another confidence trick (ponzi scheme) that will collapse. In connection with the latter, the Russian 3M scheme is actively being promoted in China. The bottom line ….. if it sounds too good to be true, it is.
And in more mundane matters, some advertising terms explained: refurbished = second hand and about to die; genuine = like the real thing; best = not tested or checked.
