Pakistani NUAA Alumni Becomes One of World’s Top Scientists

Students at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics have reason to be pretty excited at their future prospects. And that’s because one of their former classmates has been placed near the top of a list of the world’s top scientists, published by a globally-renowned institution.

Prof Ghulam Hussain, from Pakistan, was a student at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) more than a decade ago. Known locally by its Chinese abbreviation, “Nanhang”, Hussain was enrolled in that institution’s College of International Education.

Speaking with Pakistani media, Hussain revealed that he has been placed in the top 2 percent of scientists worldwide, on the list which was recently updated by Stanford University.

The ranking, that is regarded as the most prestigious worldwide, is is drawn from a database of more than eight million scientists, reports UrduPoint.

Hussain did his Master and PhD in Mechanical Engineering at NUAA in 2009. Prior to this, he received a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology in Pakistan’s Lahore in 1996.

Today, Hussain works at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Topi, which is in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the former North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan.

As a highly regarded scholar, Hussain’s field is advanced manufacturing processes with a special emphasis on sustainability.

Hussain hails from Burewala in Punjab, where he completed early education before studying Pre-Engineering at the well-regarded Burewala Degree College in 1995. 

Dating back to 2005, Nanhang’s College of International Education was one of the first institutes in China to accept international students. Today, the university is a leader in aeronautical engineering, mechanical engineering and international business.

According to its website, the College delivers English-language instruction in the courses of Aviation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, International Business, Software Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
