Spring has most definitely sprung and the bulk of the Nanjing populace could do with a bit of sunshine. Good news therefore comes in the fact that Nanjing’s tourist attractions have started reopening to the public, as the Covid-19 outbreak appears at last under control.

It was at 6 pm yesterday that Nanjing’s scenic areas started to open their gates once again. The Lovers’ Park area of Xuanwu Lake was first and today more have started to follow suit.

The news, however, does not mean its time to break out the barbie and start a friends’ reunion WeChat group. The parks may be open but there are still strict rules to be followed. Such new regulations apply to both the visitors and administrators of Nanjing’s scenic areas, revealed Dissemination Nanjing.

First and foremost, the number of visitors to any scenic spot is limited to 50 percent of capacity.

Second, wearing a mask is strongly advised, while temperature checks shall be performed on a random basis upon entering the scenic area or during time spent therein. Those not wearing masks shall be discouraged from entering. If a temperature check reveals an abnormality or there are suspicious symptoms displayed, scenic spot management shall isolate the person in question. The local health and disease control department or designated fever clinic will then be notified for treatment.

Scenic areas are also encouraged to implement a real-name identity system for all visitors.

Third, no outdoor group activities are to be conducted in scenic areas. In the case of violation, the scenic spot management will promptly attempt discouragement. If dissuasion fails, scenic spot management will report to the public security organs to take corresponding measures.

Lastly, ticketed scenic areas shall implement appropriate pricing policies. These should include free admission for medical workers.

It should be noted that the new rules apply only to outside attractions. All those inside, such as museums and the Nanjing Botanical Gardens, remain closed until further notice.
