On this Day in Chinese History; 5 August

This day, 5 August, in 1996, China was host to, and attendee at, the Asia-Africa Forum on Combating Desertification held in Beijing to enable African and Asian countries and their development partners to develop a framework for action as a basis for achieving sustainable development in affected Asian and African countries. Representatives from over 30 countries were in attendance.
