This day, 12 August, in 2011, the 26th Summer Universiade opened in Shenzhen. Nearly 10,000 university student athletes from 152 countries and regions around the world participated in the competition. Leaders from Sri Lanka, Fiji, Ethiopia, Romania, Bolivia, Mozambique, Armenia, Russia and Laos were among those who came to China to attend the opening or closing ceremonies.
