The auditorium was built on a natural slope running down to the stage, a descent of some 3 metres. But they are reflected, with those travelling directly to the audience being superimposed on reflected sounds in the human brain, creating a kind of surround sound. Similarly, the crescent-shaped lotus pond, in a half-moon shape in front of the stage, also effectively reflects sound.
