With the Mid Autumn Festival falling this year directly before National Day, expect pandemonium on the transport network, as everyone takes a well-earned break. But Nanjing Metro knows this well and has made plans accordingly.

It is expected that the Nanjing Metro network will usher in its peak passenger flow tomorrow, 28 September, the day before the holidays begin. As such, all 12 lines of the network shall operate at maximum capacity. For Lines 1, 2, 3 and S8, this shall commence at 13:00 with extra trains put on to cope with demand.

Passenger flow at stations adjacent to major business districts and scenic spots will increase significantly. Corresponding lines will adopt special high-capacity, holiday operations, with each line equipped with one or two spare trains.

Meanwhile, the late-night workings of the Nanjing Metro that begin tonight are a little convoluted.

Lines 1 and Line 3 shall operate this evening until midnight. That’s with the exception of Nanjing South Railway Station, out of which trains shall continue to run until 01:00 tomorrow. Travellers are, however, forewarned that during the extended period trains shall operate at intervals of between 10 and 20 minutes.

This also all applies to tomorrow, 28 September, as well as 29 and 30 September, and 4 thru 6 October, as Nanjing Metro has advised.

The big day, though, is tomorrow, 28 September. That’s when Lines 2 and 4 join the party, with trains running midnight. Again though, they shall operate at intervals of between 10 and 20 minutes during the extended period.

Passengers are also advised to expect diversions in place at stations where large numbers of people are expected around Nanjing’s scenic spots during peak periods.

In particular, this applies to the stations of Fuzi Miao, Wuding Men, Muxu Yuan, Xiamafang, Minggu Gong, Xuanwu Men, Xinjiekou, Daxing Gong, Sanshan Jie, Hongshan Zoo, Jiming Si and Nanjing South Railway Station, among others.

At these times, it is hoped that passengers conscientiously follow the guidance of Nanjing Metro staff. Anyone with queries may consult the service hotline that is 025-51899999.
