Most expats in Nanjing will be almost continually aware of being more or less surrounded by our lovable German cousins. Well, get ready to cuddle up with the opening of global electrical giant Siemens’ new R&D centre.
As February, 2011 drew to a close, and most of us were just counting our lucky stars that Nanjing’s winter had perhaps spared us her worst, the thoughts of a certain European economic behemoth remained sub-zero with the opening of a new Siemens Research and Development Centre in Nanjing. As the company’s third largest global R&D operation, the centre shall concentrate on the development of three new refrigerator platforms to serve both the Chinese and global markets.
Going forward, the centre expects to increase employee numbers from the present 40 to 130 by 2015, presenting us with three times more opportunities to conduct personal research and development into the ideal temperature at which to served chilled beverages.
