This day, 28 April, in 1984, when Deng Xiaoping met with visiting US President Ronald Reagan, he said that after reunification, Taiwan’s system will remain unchanged and the interests of the Taiwanese people will not be harmed. Taiwan can continue to maintain its existing relations with the USA and Japan. Once the Taiwan issue is resolved, the knot between China and the USA will be unravelled.
