29 August 2018, a press conference was held at the Nanjing Qinhuai Urban Management Bureau to promote the recent work that has been done to improve the area’s traffic congestion and environment.

It was revealed at the conference that more than 8,000 square metres of wasteland next to the Yinlong Community complex has been turned into an ecological parking lot, providing 674 parking spaces for residents, relayed the Yangtze Evening Post.

Local residents talking with reporters say the district’s “environment is getting better and better”,  and that they feel “very gratified”.  The Post writes, “At present, appearance of Weiwei Lu has undergone earth-shaking changes and won praises from surrounding residents and foreign tourists”.

Such makeovers for the urban environment are happening all over the city. The Xianyin Bei Lu thoroughfare in Xianlin has a whole new look, while a correspondent for The Nanjinger who lives downtown, between Ninghai Lu and Shanghai Lu, notes there are also major road construction projects happening all around the area.

“They started with the public toilets, which have all been redone, and now they are fixing up all the roads; engineers and workers appear each morning to assess, moving down the roads one by one”.
