Following yesterday’s return to school for older local students, more good news comes today in the form of lockdown release, while 24-hour NAT sites have also been set up, just as Nanjing Metro has rolled out a new anti-epidemic propaganda effort.

Yesterday, 24 March, Nanjing discovered another five COVID-positive citizens, to bring the total in the 2022 outbreak (which we pray is the last for if not this year, then forever) to 106.

Fully 90 of those cases have been found in Jiangning District, Nanjing’s COVID hotspot. But even there, a brighter spot on the horizon was the lifting of lockdown for several parts of the District at 06:00 this morning.

It could not have come at a better time. A reporter for Nanjing Daily on the ground in the Aitao Shangyi Huafu Residential Community saw several relieved parents leaving the compound for the first time in weeks, driving their children to school. As luck would have it, today was the day of a second important mock exam for the students.

Elsewhere, while the NAT continues, three 24 hour testing sites have also been set up in Jiangning, which will likely be of great assistance to those requiring to get a test at short notice so that they may, for example, take a train.

The sites are located:

  • On the basketball court behind Dongshan Subdistrict Community Health Service Centre, 1928 Hongyun Avenue; Tel 86170166
  • In the car park for Moling Subdistrict Community Health Service Centre, 2 Moxin Lu; Tel 52755848 / 52755848 ext. 8019
  • Behind the outpatient building of Lukou Subdistrict Community Health Service Centre, 218 Maoting Lu; Tel 18051977750

Finally for this week, over on the Nanjing Metro, two special epidemic-prevention themed trains have been put into operation, with one on each of lines 1 and 4.

Considering over a billion passenger journeys are made across the network each year, display space in trains on the Nanjing Metro plays a unique role in dissemination.

Working overtime during the night, the design of the two trains was completed in the shortest possible time, reports the Yangtze Evening News. Now the carriages’ doors, windows, billboards, grab handles and seat sides are able to greatly enhance passengers’ awareness of epidemic prevention and control, through an immersive visual experience.
