Each of a pair of twins from Wuxi just can’t seem to do anything different from their sibling, as two girls have been enrolled in Jiangsu University after achieving exactly the same score in the infamous “Gaokao”, or College Entrance Examination.

The coming of September always marks a new chapter in the lives of university freshers, full of new routines and the unknown. For Song Jiajia and Song Jiayi, however, there will still be something all-too familiar by their sides; their sister.

The two girls were born on the same day in 2001. For their entire lives, they have done virtually everything together, living together and going to school together since childhood. Observers of the two have commented that supporting each other along the way has also seemed to make the sisters more precocious and sensible than ordinary children.

Researchers have suggested that while nonidentical twins have different looks, different personalities and different interests, they unconsciously yearn for differentials elsewhere in their development. Commenting with a smile on their achieving the same scores for the same school, the two sisters said (they need speak together, of course), “It’s a pity that we didn’t break the twin’s synchronous curse”, reported Nanjing Daily.

After sitting the gaokao, the sisters made arrangements for the summer vacation, whereupon they secured internships in the electronics factory where their father had toiled. After a month’s work experience, the two sisters said (again with one voice), “It’s not easy to make money! I’m [we’re] so happy to be able to read!”.

Both Jiajia and Jiayi brought home 363 points in the gaokao and secured places at Jiangsu University in Zhenjiang, albeit studying different majors. Jiajia was admitted to study an accounting major, and Jiayi, biomedical engineering.

“It will be a fresh start for us to study different majors in the same school, and it’s also a good feeling!”, said Jiayi, taking the initiative to tell reporters that although they are twins, their educational interests are very different. “My sister has always been interested in mathematics, but I prefer medicine”, she said.

A total escape from the curse isn’t on the horizon any time soon. The sisters have planned out their entire university lives, determined to also take the postgraduate entrance examination together.

“We will work hard and continue to support each other. In the future, we will become a pair of twin comrades, fighting side by side”, they said, in unison.
