Chinese media is reporting it to be as if she had been pregnant for 5 years. The doctor in Lianyungang thought she had come to the wrong ward. She wasn’t expecting, but this was an indicator of the size of the woman’s stomach.

On 20 August this year, the unnamed lady came to the gynecology department of Lianyungang First People’s Hospital because she couldn’t bear the bloating and was not able to eat.

That’s when Chief Physician, Kuang Lei, reacted as he did.

It would turn out that 5 years ago, the lady had found out during a physical examination that she had a mass, 6 centimetres in diameter, on the right side of her uterus. But she did not seek medical treatment because it was neither painful nor itc

And so the years passed and the tumor continued to grow, until the lady became as a woman who is 10-months pregnant. She had difficulty lying down at night. She felt short of breath and was getting heavier and heavier, while her limbs became thinner.

Kuang quickly called gastrointestinal surgery expert, Wang Zhengdong, for a joint consultation.

Wang carefully analyzed the condition and found that the lady’s tumor had crowded the abdominal and pelvic cavity, causing pressure on the gastrointestinal organs, while also moving up to to level with her diaphragm.

Finally, the recent 3-hour operation took place. While all involved are accustomed to large retroperitoneal tumors, they were still shocked when they actually opened the abdominal cavity.

In order to completely remove the tumor and protect the functions of all surrounding tissue and organs, Kuang and Wang needed to rely on all their acculative rich clinical experience to operate calmly and to carefully dissect.

“This is the largest and most severe case of a retroperitoneal tumor that has been treated in our department to date”, said Kuang afterward, reported the Yangtze Evening News on 14 September.

When it was all over, the tutor, which turned out to be 40 centimetres in diameter and 11.5 centimetres deep, weighing nearly 15 kilograms, had been successfully removed. The lady, able to walk the following day with the help of her mother, thanked doctors for their work, saying, “If I had known this, I would have come earlier”.
