¥10,000 Fine for Foreigner Caught Working Illegally in Taizhou Manicure Shop

Police from Taizhou city’s High Tech Zone caught a Thai woman “illegally engaged in massage work in a pedicure shop on Jiangzhou South Road”.

According to a report published by Peaceful Taizhou, it was later revealed after an investigation that the woman has been working in the shop since June, 2018, and is married to a local resident. On 15 August, 2018, police officially fined the Thai woman a total of ¥10,000.

According to an official police reminder on the subject, “In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Exit and Entry Administration, foreigners who fail to obtain work permits and engage in paid work he or she shall be fined no less than ¥5,000 and no more than ¥20,000. Under serious circumstances he or she shall be detained for a period of no less than five days and no more than fifteen days”.

The reminder goes on to also state, “It is forbidden to use foreign employees as gimmicks to make profit while knowing that this is illegal. The public security organs not tolerate such behaviour”.
