Visa conditions in China are very limited, but often there is very little checking on a day-to-day basis. But if you are someone who’s stepping outside those boundaries, it can get unpleasant. The police came in and took him away for not having the correct visa. He was detained until after midnight. The fine was 5,000rmb. However, this kind of transgression can also attract deportation. Take care. Make sure you understand what you can and cannot do under your visa. Remember that having a work visa does not allow you to have a second job. Crackdowns by the authorities can happen at any time. Last year, an Australian was fined for riding his ebike through a red light.
